What we wear is foreign policy.

To those who have been told that “life is not a fashion show,” I beg to differ…

Fashion and politics are two domains that constantly define and influence one another. Fashion carries the same weight as other forms of soft power: it quietly influences people, shapes perspectives, and possesses the power to draw people closer or push them away.

People say actions speak louder than words. I say the way you dress speaks louder than either.

What I write about

Anywhere fashion and world politics collide.

Why do world leaders and diplomats dress the way they do? How have countries used fashion to their advantage throughout history? How do political ideas shape what we wear? And why do some styles carry more influence simply because of where they come from?

I write about whatever catches my eye. So expect the list to be long.
